The Chula Vista Human Relations Commission met in a meeting where it voted to participate in Native American Heritage Month events scheduled for November. They included a flag-raising ceremony and community events at the Chula Vista Public Library and Southwestern College.
Commissioner David Diaz suggested reaching out to the San Diego County Registrar about a possible collaboration proposal, which commissioners supported as part of ongoing efforts to recognize Native American culture.
The commission also postponed the selection of a vice-chair for the current fiscal year. The discussion was deferred to the next meeting to allow all commissioners to participate.
Additionally, the commission voted to dissolve its Ad-Hoc Subcommittee and to form a Native American Heritage Subcommittee.
