The San Diego Historical Resources Board met to determine whether several properties should be designated as historical resources.
A proposal to build a three-story accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in a historic district sparked a discussion about its potential impact on neighborhood preservation. Community members complained about the potential impacts of the building, which has an application in review. The matter, which was discussed during non-agenda public comment, did receive official consideration from the board during the meeting.
Among the properties reviewed for historical designation, the board denied a request for 2265 Juan Street and postponed a decision on 637 Arenas Street. In contrast, the board approved three other properties on 955 Bangor Street, 305 West Olive Street, and 1008 Johnson Street for their historical significance.
